Kangana Ranaut is one of the most popular actresses of Bollywood. She has been making headlines lately for many controversial reasons. On Tuesday, an FIR was filed against the actress for allegedly using insulting language towards the Sikh community in a social media post. The FIR was lodged at the suburban Khar police station a day after the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) submitted a complaint against her.
She has been booked under section 295A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) of IPC.
Amarjeet Singh Sandhu, a Mumbai-based businessman who was part of a DSGMC team presented the complaint on Monday. He accused the actress of passing derogatory comments against his culture. After the complaint was submitted, a DSGMC delegation, led by Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa met Maharashtra home minister Dilip Walse Paril and top officials and demanded strict action against her. He also wrote to President Ram Nath Kovind urging that the Pradma Shri conferred on actor Kangana be withdrawn as she was 'spreading hatred and insulting farmers and freedom fighters'. The Thalaivii actress' post read, "Khalistani terrorists may be arm twisting the government today... But let's not forget one woman... The only woman prime minister ne inn ko apni jooti ke neeche crush kiya tha."
